1984

I have finally found the book Ms. O'Brien. I love it so far and actually look forward to reading it. I loved Animal Farm in 8th grade, so i guess George Orwell is a good match up for me. I know i am going to love this and hope to read a lot of it this weekend. I know i need to finish it by the end of the quarter which i think is doable. I also need to talk to you about maybe counting what i read of Atlas Shrugged and of Slaughter House Five as one book. We will see! Until next time,

I Don't Know What the Problem Is

I can't really seem to find a good book. I am still reading Slaughter House Five or Nine or whatever but i really can't seem to get into it. Its weird and hard to understand. I am going to try and finish it but i don't like it very much. I need to find a book i can really get into. I don't know what the problem is (hence the title) because i am having trouble picking good books. I know you feel that i don't like to read but what it really is, is that i can't find anything that i LIKE to read.

New Book

I started a new book called "Slaughter House-Five" by Kurt Vonnegut. Atlas Shrugged was too challenging, and i will maybe pick it up again next year or later in this one. This book was recomended to me by you, and Justin. I decided to give it a try. I like it so far a lot. Its about a man whio fought in the war, and he wants to write a book about it. That is all i have so far. I look forward to reading on.

Atlas Shrugged: 1

So, for my first book i am reading Atlas Shrugged. Unfortunately i have not really gotten into it enough to explain the characters or plot, but i can tell u about the book a little bit. It was recommended to me by 2 people. Not only this, but it was #2 on the list of "Books That Changed Mt Life", #1 being the bible. So that was enough to get me to read it haha. I look forward to reading more of it and although it is over 1000 pages, i look forward to every one of them.

Call me Ishmael...well actually don't call me that I'm just implying I read Moby Dick this summer

This summer, i read a SLIGHTLY abridged version of Moby Dick, and by abridged, i mean that nothing was actually taken out, just that some of the old English words and phrases were made easier to understand in modern talk.  To keep it simple, i really enjoyed it.  At first i was a little skeptical: such an intimidating book with so much history behind it; i didn't really think it was for me.  But then i thought to myself, "What else am i actually going to want to read anyway?" so i figured i might as well give it a try.  I began reading it while waiting for a loop at the caddy yard and all the other caddies would joke with me about it.  However, i was captivated.  That night when i got home, i found myself still wanting more, so i read another 100 pages that night! I was amazed.  This experience rarely happens to me with reading.  I could really feel myself on the Pequod with Ishmael and Queequeg and Ahab.  There was so much more action then i could have anticipated for, and although there were some slow parts, i managed through them for i was seeking what would happen in the next chapter way too much.  I don't think it has really inspired me to read another classic, but who knows what could happen.  Overall a very captivating book with edge-of-your-seat action and only a few slow parts that are easy to get through.  Until next time,
